What have I created?

Matt came home late tonight and while h missed a delicious home cooked dinner by none other than myself, he saved room for fresh strawberries for dessert. I had been watching HGTV when Matt came home and at 10pm, House Hunters came on. Typically, Matt comes home and immediately start channel surfing trying to find something better than Cupcake Wars, Toddlers & Tiara or some other trashy show that I am inevitably watching. But tonight, it was a different story.

Matt was immediately captivated at the massive square footage that 350,000 dollars can get you in Texas. His amazement soon turned into jealously displayed in the form of a temptertantrum. However, the bowl of strawberries that I placed in his lap soon distracted him.

As I was loading the dishes into the dishwasher, I started to ask Matt about his day…

“Matt, how was your day? Why did you have to work late”

“It was… ummm… give me a second. This is like the crucial part…”

Needless to say, the couple that was house hunting for the last 25 minutes was about to make their decision and Matt needed to hear this one – without distractions (and by distractions I mean me!) He normally only reserves this level of concentration for True Blood and Game of Thrones.

Maybe watching tv together isn’t a good idea.

Welcome to Summer

I love Memorial Day as it is the unofficial start to summer. Time for cookouts, white pants and eating as much ice cream as possible. I kicked off this season of sun and fun in a big way, but more to come on that later…

Today in New York it is hot. Summer is definitely here. As a way to celebrate, my work-twin and I walked to the lower east side for some mid-day BIG GAY ICE CREAM!

And boy was it delicious. We both had the salty pimp – yup, the name says it all!

I can not recommend this place enough, especially on a day when the “real feel” temperature is over 100 degrees. And if you aren’t near by, look out for their big gay ice cream truck, which is frequently parked in Union Square during the week and in Mid-town during the weekend. Or, for their exact location, just follow them on twitter @biggayicecream

Campus Taps

After Facebook’s worse than expected performance this week, I think everyone is a little more suspicious of internet websites and their valuation. However, I think we would all agree that even though Facebook’s stock has dropped 15 percent, their 80-90 billion dollar market value is definitely impressive. And while Mark Zuckerberg and I went to the same school, I am sad to report that I did not know him, the Winklevoss twins or anyone else involved with the creation of Facebook.

Believe me when I say, that is upsetting. While I was hanging out with my friends on the swim team, people were developing a multi-billion dollar website right next door. Well, I am not about to let that happened again – which is why I am happily promoting the newest college website out there: Campus Taps.

Matt and I both agree that the summer of 2010 was one of our best, as it was when we met the incredible Ryan Phillips. His most obvious contribution to our life are his unbelievable dance skills. In one fluid motion, he can turn a boring evening into a riotous dance battle. He gave us the gift of dance, first at Matt’s bachelor party and then during our wedding. Matt and I were so excited to share his skills with our closest friends and family!

However, while Ryan’s dance skills are impressive, we have realized very quickly that they are non-transferable (Although, he did give us a few VERY helpful pointers for our first dance; however, beyond a few spins and twirls, Matt and I are unable to replicate Ryan’s skills). But one thing that Matt has been able to replicate is Ryan’s sweet sense of style.

Ryan captured the “All American Gentleman” style with his Sperry boat shoes, J.Crew shorts and his croakies — apparently when you are a true gentleman you are always ready for yachting. Even in the middle of New York City. Matt’s (and Kinsella’s) sense of style has been fine-tuned as a result of their friendship.

And now, Ryan is applying his wealth of “bro” knowledge and sharing it with the world – while also providing a calendar of events for young “bros-in-training.”

Taken from their website, Campus Taps is described below:

“Campus Taps is a free online nightlife directory that provides access to bar events, bar and liquor store specials, and late night eats in the Baltimore-area. In addition, the site was created to be an open forum for students and young professionals to connect with their friends and favorite nightlife spots. The directory is free for businesses and users to join. Currently we are serving the greater Baltimore-area but we will be expanding to other major cities and college towns soon.”

The website had a soft launch this spring and hopes to expand to more bars and colleges next fall.

And who knows, maybe Mark will start reading Campus Taps — he really could use the advice, because let’s face it, while he may be a multi-billionaire, he is no bro. “Time to trade up those Adidas sandals for some Rainbows, bro!”

My Thoughts on Glee’s Season Finale

Sitting in my apartment watching the season finale of Glee, I have one thought- how ridiculous is it that all of these seniors in high school, about to graduate, think their high school relationships are going to survive the distance and drama of college. Oh wait… Matt and I met when we were 16, started dating when we were Seniors in high school, went to different college, dated for 10 years and are now married. I guess that makes us like Rachel and Finn.

And that must make Kinsella Puck

Or rather… is he Kurt?

Brooklyn Half Marathon

(via)

This weekend Matt and I participated in the Brooklyn Half Marathon. While both of us went best times, we both think we could have gone fast. However, I will fully admit that I was feeling pretty good about my personal world record. That is, until I saw the video of myself running…

Yes, New York Road Runners has moved beyond just pictures from races with videos from the finish and along the course. Wow – watching myself run on video certainly opened my eyed. I have to admit, I look very similar to Phoebe.

I made a not-so-graceful appearance at about 25 seconds on the right side of the screen wearing sunglasses, a purple tank top and black capri pants. I certainly welcome any advice, criticisms and funny jokes about my miniature stride!

Life Swap

I called my sister this morning during my walk to work. Here is part of our conversation:

Me: What are you doing today?
Abby: I am going to Starbucks, then Target, then Wegmans
Me: Ugh, you are so lucky! I want your life

Sometimes I wish I could get hit by lightning and swap lives with someone, like in Freaky Friday. And yes, I would like the life of driving around the suburbs running errands. Abby can party with Seth Meyers, Bwilliams, Jilly Fallon and Rihanna instead of me.

Speaking of Freaky Friday, did anyone else see LiLo’s performance on Glee? I smell a comeback…
