Friday Afternoon Round Up

Happy Weekend!

It is finally starting to feel like Fall here in NYC and Matt and I plan to take full advantage of that this weekend with our annual apple picking trip! Matt has even offered to add in a trip to Ikea to get a dresser/changing table for the baby. I don’t know if he is trying to hone his inner super dad skills or if he is just feeling guilty about the fact that I am pregnant (i.e. doing ALL the work) but I will take it.

Here are my favorite links from this week:

Listen to this 11-year-old’s take on Ferguson, Missouri. He gives me hope for our future.

This is why I now hate Halloween

Stars are just like us.

I want this sign.

I think we have approximately 5 things on this list. #totallyready

Perfect bag for fall

Conversations with my Husband

Preparing to bring another human into the world has really started some interesting conversations with Matt. And I can only imagine they’ll get better after the baby is born. As a result, I’m going to start posting regular conversations with my baby daddy, so you can all appreciate our incredible parenting skills.

That’s how it works, right?

*many people are confused as to why we refer to the child as baby g. Basically it comes from the fact that Matt thinks I look like a giraffe (tall, spotted… very creative hunny) so he started calling me “G”. As a result, the baby has become “baby g”. Yes – we went to college to get this smart.

Baby Doctor

Is it wrong that I picked our pediatrician based on their sweet decor and the fact that there is an ice cream shop right next door?

Within the first year, I will be visiting the pediatricians’ office a minimum of 8 times, which equals 8 ice cream cones! #babyweightproblems.

Clearly I am taking this parenting thing seriously. I think we are ready.

In the Eye of the Beholder

This morning, I was speaking with two women at a work event. They asked me how far along I was and when I said ‘seven and a half months’ they both looked at me sideways. “you aren’t very big. I would have said much earlier.”

Then a few minutes later on the train, a random gentleman said to me “wow, you look like you are about to have your baby on this subway train.”

What do you think? At 33 weeks do I look ready to go?

Friday Afternoon Round Up

What are you up to this weekend? We are spending time with one of our favorite couples who are in town visiting from San Francisco. My Saturday will begin with prenantal yoga and then some adventures in the city.  Tomorrow night Matt is heading to MetLife to watch Notre Dame take on Syracuse (I opted to watch from our couch in my sweatpants #pregnancyproblems). Then Sunday we might venture north to CT to look at some houses because we are currently living in a fantasy world where buying a house might happen in our near/distance future.

Hope you have a good first weekend of Fall. Here are my favorite links from this week:

Pretty much a fairy tale ending.

I believe wholeheartedly in having a good bed.

I hope Abby and I are like this when we are old and our kids are creative enough to make fun of us.

I would like the swing set table.

I want to be friends with this mom.

Excited to go to this in a couple weeks.

100 points for Gryffindor.

I love this PSA.

I’m turning 32 in a couple months so naturally I find this really funny.
